Focal Friday ~ Hibiscus

Each Friday I come to you with a photo or design idea for you to focus on over the weekend. This week I fell in love with the Humming Along stamp set. I love the colors and of course the coloring. Lets look at today’s focal graphic. if you love it….PIN IT to Pinterest and help others with some color inspiration.

My mom and I were blessed with two amazing holidays in Hawaii together and I will always treasure those memories. I wish we could go back but unfortunately that is not an option. So lets go to Hawaii with our crafty projects this weekend….

I love doing these Focal Friday’s. They inspire me and I hope they inspire you as well. For this design I colored the Hibiscus flower using Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Markers.

The beauty of our Alcohol markers is there is no guess work. Our markers come as a duo with both light and dark. So there is no guesswork. With layering you can create these beautiful shaded stamps. I used an array of Stampin’ Blends duos and I will link to at the bottom of this post.

Check out this AWESOME vine I created using the Leaf Ribbon. I simply intertwined them together using mini glue dots to hold them in place. I love how this turned out.

One last look. IF you decide to use my “Focal Friday” as inspiration I sure would love to see what you make. Jump on over to my customer group on Facebook and share your projects!!! I hope you have a delightful weekend. Melanie

Creating your own Designer Paper!!!

unfortunately I do not have an actual tutorial for you today but what I have done here is quite simple so I am sure you won’t need one. 😉 While making this week’s samples it was a coloring labor of love. This card is no exception. Let me show you what I mean….

For the background I used a leaf stamp from the Humming Along bundle. I randomly stamped the leaf onto THICK Whisper White card stock and then I colored them using my Stampin’ Blend markers. Doesn’t it create beautiful designer paper?? I will be showing a different sample of this same idea next week so make sure to stick around (Add your email on the side bar and receive 1 email message when I post a new post, this insures you don’t miss any 🙂

I’ve always adored green and purple together…. Can you tell I like this card??? This Humming Along Bundle is just sp fun to COLOR. So if your wanting to learn to color this would be perfect for you!!!

Don’t forget the bundle comes with the dies to make it easy to cut out your beautiful pieces. It also includes the sentiment die used on this card. It is the same label I ran the ribbon behind on Monday’s Post. So versatile!!!

The small piece of designer paper (Purple floral) is cut using the Rectangle stitched die set and the paper itself is also from the Botanical Butterfly DSP Sale A Bration set, Free w/ a $50 purchase.

I hope you are enjoy my week of coloring with the Stampin’ Blends. I truly felt inspired by this bundle along with a few of the Sale a Bration items. Don’t forget that you can earn multiple SAB free items. The more you order the more free items you get, but ONLY until March 31st!!!

See you tomorrow! Melanie

Tuesday’s Tip ~ Two Cards From CAS to “All Dressed Up”

Welcome back stamp lovers!

Today I am here to share a Clean and Simple (CAS) card with all of you but I decided to also share tips on dressing up a card with added layers of detail.

Here is my CAS simple card design. Just a simple strip of double sided designer series paper. I used both sides to alternate the designs to really show off this beautiful paper. Then a simple strip of card stock, one stitched die cut and a single stamped sentiment. this gives such a sleek look and is quite striking. But what if we dress it up a little using this week’s Needlepoint Nook Suite of products…

As you can see I used everything the first card had plus more. The white space has been embossed using the stitched die from the bundle. The floral stamps have been stamped and die cut out using the coordinating dies. The stitched circle that the sentiment was stamped on also has a second scalloped layer. Then a few die cut leaves were used, also from the same bundle….. and POW!!!! A multilayered look with a lot of interest and dimension. (Quick tip…. Make sure to order Dimensionals in both the regular size as well as the mini’s. I will link these at the end of this post.) These really help with popping up some of the flowers to add even more to that dimensional look. Here is a close up photo…

I hope you have enjoyed this and feel inspired. The CAS card has sleek lines and is quite striking due to its extra white space and the ‘dressed up’ card has dimension and extra interest. Both designs will appeal to a wide variety of people. Now lets see a CAS & ‘Dressed Up” card that you have designed. CLICK HERE to head on over to my VIP Customer group on Facebook. Feel free to SHARE your personal projects. I Can’t wait to see them.

Just Paper & Ink…. Seriously!

Hi Friends,
Today I am going to share a little bit about one layer stamping can be fun and look a lot more work than it really is. When I say “One Layer Stamping” I am thinking “Just paper and ink”!!! nothing fancy but the stamping makes it look like it is more work than it actually is. Lets take a look at how I created today’s card.

Step One: Cut a piece of Whisper White Card Stock to 4″x5 1/4″ and using Merry Merlot ink to stamp your rose stamp from the Forever Lovely Bundle #150580. This is your darkest ink color used in those card.

Step 2: Using your Lovely Lipstick ink pad, stamp that same flower stamp afew more times leading into the center. My watermark above is where your sentiment is going to go so we just want to work on the left hand side.

Step 3: Closing the gap on the left side simply stamp a few more flowers in Flirty Flamingo ink. This technique can be done with almost any stamp but Stampin’ Up!®’s new DistINKtive stamps are perfect for this because they look so dimensional already due to there shading. (DistINKtive stamps are a new style of stamps that Stampin’ Up@ now carry. In one stamp you have varied light and dark areas. They are really fun to play with.

Here is the final ONE LAYER card. Super Simple and perfect for mailing because there are no embellishments 😉
