Stampin’ Up Video Featuring the Country Lane Suite + Stepping Up Your Projects!

Happy Thursday Everyone!

I have an awesome video to share with all of you today. This shows off parts of this week’s Focal Suite “Country Lane”

I would also like to share with your two projects I made recently. One was made for an organized swap I participated in, and the second “stepped up” version was made to share during this week’s posts. I thought showing the two together might help some who want to use more of their coordinated embellishments as well as adding more interest.

With this first sample I have simply colored the focal floral with Stampin’ Blends and then Stamped the milk jug in Basic Black onto Basic Grey card stock. Then I fussy cut the jar out. One designer tip when doing it this way. Use your basic black marker and go around the cut edges with it. It makes the image feel more finished. The paper strip I used across the middle of the card is from the Country Lane 12×12″ Designer Series Paper.

With this “Stepped Up” sample I have used the Galvanized 12″ metal paper in the Tin Tile Dynamic Designer Impressions Embossing Folder for the background piece instead of the Smoky Slate. I then Stamped the Milk Jug image on to our 110lb Thick Whisper White card stock and I colored it using the Smoky Slate and Basic Black Stampin’ Blends Marker Combos. Lastly I added a bit of twine around the tip of the jug just for some added interest.

Here is an extra tip when using this Tin Tile Dynamic Designer Impressions embossing folder. Once embossed go over the raised parts of the embossing with your Wink of Stella. It adds that little extra bling that so many people enjoy.

This card was designed by Monica Giberti

One last project using this week’s suite…. This one uses the watering can stamp along with the Square framelits and the new linen braided thread. All the products for today’s projects are below.

these products listed below are for all of the samples. If you are needing any extra detail feel free to contact me and I can help you order just the items your actually needing for a specific project. I am always just a message away and would love to hear from you. Melanie

The Country Lane Suite

Welcome back friends,

At the end of last week on Facebook I published this card as a sneak peek as to which bundle or set of products I might be sharing this week. For the first person to guess what that bundle/suite might be would receive a card in the mail from me. Well I was out of town last week and my “scheduled” blog posts did not post Tuesday or Thursday which is why some of you woke up Monday morning with not one but 2 more posts from me. Those were the ones that did not publish properly last week. I do apologize for that mistake. Learning how to use WordPress is a huge learning curve for me. Anyways… this card’s hint was the designer paper used in this project. It is part of the Country Lane Suite. Watch my facebook posts each Friday for other challenge offers.

I have two other projects to share with you today. This next card uses the Frosted Floral designer series paper (Shown Below) along with the Country Lane stamp set. Coloring these stamps are a pure joy, especially with the Stampin’ Blends Alcohol Markers.

Falling Leaves and a Sneak Peek Challenge!

Welcome back!

This week I am focusing all on fall projects using the falling leaves bundle in the Holiday Catalog. Don’t have a holiday catalog? You can see it by clicking on the “Shop Catalog” button at the top of the page or by messaging me.

This card was designed by Keri Blake

This card is PERFECT for all crafty people. It attracts the avid artistic type of card maker but it is also easy enough for a beginner to make. Let me share with you why.

The background was created by adding abstract stamp set called “Artisan Textures” This is the perfect stamp set for a beginner because you are unable to mess up stamping with this set. It is suppose to look abstract. When we team this up with the beautiful Falling For Leaves stamp set the possibilities are endless.

Product List

Last but not least here is a little SNEAK PEEK for next week…. We will continue playing with products from the Holiday catalog. Can you figure out which one??? Here is a hint…

I will leave you wonderful people with this….. first person who guesses what next weeks focus is going to be will receive a handmade card in the mail from me. Happy hunting.

Fun Fall Projects ~The Falling Leaves Bundle

Hi Sweet friends,

I have 2 really fun fall projects along with a designers tip to share with you today. I have chosen the Falling Leaves bundle from the Holiday 2018 catalog as our focus this week. Want daily inspiration? Make sure to visit my melaniesmithstamps facebook page.

The rich colors of fall are upon us and Stampin’ Up! coordinating papers and inks are perfect for all of your fall projects.

This first card was a swap card I received from Marcia Gay.

The focus here is this beautiful Maple stamp from the Falling Leaves stamp set.

Card Recipe:

Falling Leaves Stamp & Die Bundle

Rich Razzleberry, Blackberry Bliss, Mango Melody, and Pumpkin Pie ink pads

Papers in Fresh Fig, Crushed Curry, Whisper White

Fresh Fig & Basic Black ink Pads

Country Lane Designer Paper

  3/16″ Braided Linen Trim

Here is a closer look at the focal leaf.

Product List

For this next project I have designed this more detailed design mixing layers with dies to create a richly textured card.

Designers Tip: make more out of your dies by getting tricky. The border die in this set is designed for a A2 vertical card but I wanted to make a horizontal card so I just snipped the border and covered up the missing space with my focal.

I even used a scrap for my sentiment (wink wink). I believe in getting the most out of your money so will share tips like this from time to time to help you use your beloved products. Ever have any questions or stuck with something. Simply message me and I would be happy to help.

Here is a close up of my leaf. I used a sponge and sponged the leave to give it a weathered look.

Thank you for stopping by today. Check back each Tuesday & Thursday for more projects or simply add your email to the email sign up along the side bar to be added. Hugs, Melanie

Tutorial ~ Creating a Spooky Sky ~ Masking

Hello friends,

Today I come to you sharing a fun step by step tutorial sharing simple masking. This Halloween project is the “Wrap Up” to my 2 weeks full of fun Halloween projects!! Make sure to check back over the last two weeks to see all the tips, techniques, tutorials AND of course the fun projects.

Now to create this spooky card simply follow these directions:

I have used 2 1″ strips of masking paper but Post it also makes a post it note that is 100% sticky. Check for it on Amazon. I actually use that post it paper for the moon mask shown below.

Designers Tip: Cover your card completely…I got a tiny bit of ink along the top of the card because I left that area uncovered.

Sponging is so much fun!!!!

This isn’t seen in the photo but you want to remove the moon mask and sponge the moon before you remove the top and bottom pieces. Allow for the Crushed Curry ink to sponge into the purple, it gives a nice glow of the moon.

ready to see the final project??? Not yet!

This is a small tip… Using the Cauldron Bubble Bundle get that spider web die out and cut one from basic black card stock then trim it down to match your sponged sky…. cool huh???

I’ve made you wait long enough….. Here is the final project! Didn’t it turn out really spooky?

For the bats I cut punched them out twice…first in Basic Black and second in Crushed Curry. Adding the Crushed Curry as a outline really made the bats pop off the paper. I also used Dimensionals to help that even more. Can’t have a project without them!!!

Awesome Tip! Get the most from your 12×12″ Patterned Paper!

Hello my midweek friends!

I am sharing a swap card I recently made for a demonstrator swap. I wanted to use my amazing Designer Series Paper (DSP) and get as many samples out of it as possible. I thought I would share the recipe for getting 12 cards from 1 piece of paper!!!

Step 1: Cut your 12×12″ DSP in 4″ strips and then cut those down into 3″ pieces. So each piece is 3″x4″ giving you 12 equal sized pieces… YOU WASTE ABSOLUTELY ZERO paper!!! Win/Win

Now from your 8.5″x11″ card stocks you can easily get 6 card mats each. Please note: I took this photo using crushed curry but I actually cut down pumpkin pie paper as seen below.

Easy Peasy…You have card bases made from crushed curry, a basic black border, and a pumpkin pie border. The beauty of this is you have very little wasted paper.

Simply add a cute stamp and a couple of punches and some basic twine and you have a adorable, yet super simple project.

Welcome back to Melanie’s must-haves Monday! This week we continue our two weeks full of Halloween fun. This week I am sharing the Spooky Sweets Bundle (#149973 clear mount or #149974 wood mount) The Bat Punch in this bundle is a MUST HAVE!!!  You can tell that I love this set because last week the bats kind of snuck their way into those projects. The two sets really work well together.

I had a little fun with the Trick or Tweet (#147722 clear mount or #147725 wood mount) stamp set which is perfect for coloring with Stampin’ Blends. Let me share more…

I have used the background stamp from this week’s bundle along with the bat punch. Then I added the doggie here from the Trick or Tweet stamp set and I colored him using Stampin’ Blends Markers.

Midweek Fun Fold ~ Simple Easel Card

Half way through the week….Have you been following along with my weekly posts? I would love to see some of your projects.

For this second card I am going to show you how to make a super simple easel card. I have made two varieties, one with more coloring that the other. Both are really striking!

Cutting & Scoring Measurements:

Base Card is 4 1/4″ x 11″ ~ Scored at 2 3/4″ and 5 1/2″ ~ Cherry Cobbler

Front Panel Frame 3″ x 4″ ~ Cherry Cobbler

Front Panel 2 3/4″ x  3 3/4″ ~ Whisper White

Designer Series Paper 4″ x 2 1/2″ ~ Cut 2 for front sections of the card.

Inside white panel 3 3/4″ x 5″ ~ Whisper White

Bottom Inside Stripe 1 1/4″ x 3 3/4″  ~ Cut Two and glue together ~ Cherry Cobbler

Bottom Inside Stripe of Designer Series Paper 1 x 3 1/2″

The first sample I made I decided to play with the Stampin’ Blends markers. I used Light and Dark Cherry Cobbler. and colored a few of the flowers on the Designer Series Paper. This paper is GORGEOUS!!!!!!

This was my second sample… I decided not to color onto the designer series paper. Instead I colored just the little stamped flower. I like how they both turned out and at class they will have a choice of coloring them or not.

Which design do you like better??? Leave me a comment!

Fantasy Week Stampin’ Up!® Style

Recently I met up with a couple of online crafting friends in Mississippi (Hi Susan & Donna… miss you ladies already!!!) for a wonderful 3 day crop. My focus was mostly on Stampin’ Up!® projects and I will be sharing projects made from both the Magical Day and Sunshine and Rainbows Stamp & Die bundles. For someone who loves fantasy as well as all things colorful these were my first two sets purchased from the Spring Occasions Catalog.

With this first sample I used the awesome dies with the Sunshine & Rainbow dies to create these clouds and rainbow. I just love how simple yet unique this is. The sentiment was from the same bundle.

This second project incorporates both of the featured sets this week. Using the cloud dies I created a shaped card by trimming the upper left corner of a right opening card. Then I was able to use the rainbow dies and clouds to connect it all together. This adorable unicorn and glitter washi tape came from the Magical Day Suite of products. Don’t these set work together nicely?

Check in with me on CLS Wednesday when I share a Clean & Simple card made from the designer series paper that coordinates with these stamps. Until then keep on Stampin’®
